We found the best tablet for our mentally disabled son is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite https://www.samsung.com/us/tablets/tab-a7/tab-a7-lite/ due to the combination of cost, battery life, USB-C, quick-charge ability, and the ability to hide apps from the home screen. However, our son needed some special considerations in a case. This may also be a good case for small children in general.

Features of this case:

  • Prevents access to volume buttons, you can change the volume in settings.
  • Accommodates a Tile Bluetooth locator (2022 version). This is vital for us!
  • Bezel covers the edges of a glass screen protector to avoid picking the screen protector off.
  • Bezel screws are sunken to prevent chewing on the screw heads.
  • The thickness of the case and bezel gives a better grip for the child.
  • The thickness of the case and bezel help prevent debris from entering the USB-C port and speakers.
  • Power button is a separate body, and sits below flush.
  • Provides rigidity to the tablet to help prevent bending of the tablet.
  • Prevents access to the camera lenses, front and rear. By nature of this, auto screen brightness doesn't function anymore. This was necessary to cover the edge of the screen protector.

General notes:

  • M3x12 (or up to 16mm long) button head screws. Recommend stainless steel. Screws will thread directly into the plastic. Don't over-torque the screws, just snug will do.
  • The Tile locator pocket was made with extra space to allow filter media around the locator. This is so debris can't get into the speaker of the tile. I used HEPA filter media from Amazon from other projects. Think paper towel type thickness.
  • Be sure to align the Tile speaker properly to the speaker hole.
  • Designed for use with a glass screen protector.
  • STEP included for any mods.
  • NO SUPPORTS! Make sure your bridging settings are in order to span the port openings properly.
  • PETG or PLA+; make sure you don't use a brittle polymer!
  • Possible future mods of cushioning inside the case for the tablet, but so far we haven't had a problem there.
