Retroid Pocket 3+ rugged travel case

Großes Update! - Version 2
 

Nachdem ich mittlerweile einiges an Zubehör für meinen Retroid angesammelt habe, musste ich feststellen, dass meine Box nicht mehr genügend Stauraum bietet. Perfekter Grund, um die Box komplett zu überarbeiten und für mehr Platz zu sorgen.

Die Box ist dicker als Version 1! Solltet ihr weniger Zubehör haben und eine schmälere Box wollen, so empfehle ich nach wie vor Version 1.

Die Neuerungen:

• Kleinere Materialsparende Verschlusslaschen
• Mehr Material bei den geschraubten Bereichen (bruchsicherer)
• größeres Logo im Deckel (leichter zu drucken - und sieht super aus)
• Neuer Zubehör-Einsatz - komplett herausnehmbar mit mehr Stauraum
• TPU druckbare Einsätze zum Schutz des Retroid
• Exakt auf den Retroid abgestimmte Rundungen der Box

Gedruckt wird die Box aus dem Material deiner Wahl, ich empfehle jedoch PETG (PLA geht auch). Die TPU Einsätze können natürlich auch wie zuvor einfach aus Schaumgummi selbst gebastelt werden, solltet ihr kein TPU drucken können.

Update v2.1 - Ich habe eine Dichtung zum Druck in TPU hinzugefügt, damit der Retroid besser gegen Flüssigkeiten geschützt ist (keine Garantie!)

Update v2.0 - Mein Retroid ist angekommen und ich konnte alles nochmal genau vermessen. 

Es gibt nun also zwei Varianten: 

1. Willst du zusätzlichen Schutz durch einkleben von Schaumgummi, druckts du einfach den Insert für Schaumgummi. Ich habe hier Schaumgummi mit einer Dicke von 2mm verwendet.
2. Willst du das nicht, druckst du den normalen Einsatz

Die restlichen Teile sind alle gleich für beide Varianten. Außerdem habe ich das “e” aus dem Logo für den Deckel als einzelnes Teil hinzugefügt, sollte also beim Druck des Logos hier etwas schief gehen, so kannst du nun anstelle des gesamten Logos das “e” einfach nochmal einzeln drucken. 

Falls du die Box bereits gedruckt hast und doch lieber die Schaumgummi Variante möchtest, kannst du einfach den Schaumgummi Einsatz drucken!

Version 1:

Ich habe das Modell von Whity angepasst, damit es für den Retroid Pocket 3+ passt. Damit auch anderes Zubehör wie Kabel oder SD-Karten, Adapter, usw. Platz finden habe ich dazu ein Einsatz designed, um diese getrennt und sicher mit im Case zu verstauen. Es ist so designed, dass im Deckel und auf dem Einsatz wahlweise ein Stück Schaumgummi eingeklebt werden kann, der Tasten und Display zusätzlich schützt. Der Einsatz für den unteren Teil sitzt sehr genau, damit dieser nicht versehentlich herausfallen kann. Nach Bedarf kann dieser natürlich auch kleiner skaliert werden.

Die Einzelteile werden wie beim originalen Design mit M3 Schrauben verbunden.

Big Update! - Version 2

After accumulating a good amount of accessories for my Retroid, I realized that my box no longer provides sufficient storage space. A perfect reason to completely overhaul the box and make room for more.

The box is thicker than Version 1! If you have fewer accessories and want a slimmer box, I still recommend Version 1.

The updates include:

• Smaller, material-saving latches.
• More material in the screwed areas (more resistant to breakage).
• Larger logo on the lid (easier to print and looks great).
• New accessory insert - completely removable with more storage space.
• TPU printable inserts for protecting the Retroid.
• Precisely tailored curves of the box fitting the Retroid.

The box can be printed in the material of your choice, but I recommend PETG (PLA works too). The TPU inserts can, of course, still be crafted from foam rubber as before if you can't print TPU.
 

Update v.2.1 - Added a seal to print in TPU for adding extra protection against fluids (no warranty!)

Update v2.0 - My Retroid finally came and so I was able to measure everything and try it out. 

There are now two variants:

1. If you want extra protection by using rubber foam inserts, just print the insert version for rubber foam. I used rubber foam with a thickness of 2mm
2. If not, just print the normal insert

The other parts are the same for both variants. I also added an extra e-Logo part as I realized that is the part that mostly gets messed up and so you don't have to print the whole logo again.

If you already printed the Box, but want to use the rubber foam version, you can just print the rubber foam insert and you're ready to go!

Version 1:

I resized the model from Whity to fit the Retroid Pocket 3+. To be able to put additional accessories like cables, SD-Cards or similar into the case I designed an insert, so that everything can be stored secure in one case. Its meant to glue a piece of foam rubber into the lid, to avoid scratches to buttons and display . The insert for the bottom part sits pretty strong, so it doesnt fall out easily. If you want it to be removable more easily you could try scaling it down a little.

The parts get connected with M3 screws just like the original model..
