I wanted a way to display my Gameboy cartridge collection in style, so I designed these :D
It's a replica of the original cart shell, simply scaled up to 200mm (sorry mini/mini+ users [myself included], this doesn't fit on there - will look into support for this if there's enough request for it).
One of the things I wanted is to still have easy access to the games (to be able to play them) while they were hanging/standing for display. The front cover is hinged into the back, and slides out giving you a quick way to grab/replace them!
If you opt for the triple or quad variant, the top row of the carts slide in, and are held up by the bottom row of carts. This was the best way to achieve easy removal, along with using the most space in the “window” to highlight/display the carts artwork/label.
All of the files can be printed supportless, flat on the bed! I opted for a 0.3mm layerheight with a 0.6mm nozzle, just to get them printed “quickly” as I needed quite a bunch of them.
I made a few variants, so you can mix & match to your desired needs!
There's support for up to 4 cartridges at the same time, but also a blank one for people that want to get creative making remixes themselves (or just display cool printed art, without any GB carts in there).
There is also an open and a closed front panel which can be printed (pictures only show “open” variant, I didn't print the closed one myself, but it's there for whichever creative idea you want to do here).
You'll have to glue the “GB_Latch_R/L” pieces into the front panel (do a dry-fit first to get the orientation correct, I made that mistake before..), and after that the front assembly simple slides into the guide rails on the back part. That's it!
What I ended up doing is simply printing cover art on photo paper, and cut out some holes to fit the clamps for the carts through, and use a bit of double sided tape to hold it in place.
Additionally, you can cut a piece of transparent craft paper to size, and glue it to the front to make a nice little cover (it makes it look a bit better overall, but not required).
I also made a full set for other gameboy cartridge versions, you can find them here:
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
