How to Build a Ghost Paperclip:

Open a new sketch
Select the front plane

Constraint Box

Sketch a construction center-point rectangle (the second option) from the origin
Sketch the constraint box with construction lines (13 cm x 6 cm)
Draw an 11.4 cm line
Draw a construction line across the top and bottom of the 11.4 cm lines
Select \u2018mirror entities\u2019
Select the 11.4 cm line
Click \u2018mirror about\u2019
Select the center construction line from the constraint box
Exit the property manager

Arcs on Top

Select the 3-point arcs
Make 2 side-by-side 1.5 cm semi-circles at the top of the lines
Select \u2018mirror entities\u2019
Select the 2 semi-circles
Click \u2018mirror about\u2019
Select the center construction line
Exit the property manager

Triangles on Bottom

Put triangles 2 cm in width on the bottom
Make a diagonal line from the bottom left corner of the ghost 1.4 cm long
Repeat the previous step in the opposite diagonal direction
Repeat the second step again until you reach the center construction
Ctrl + select all the lines created
Go to \u2018mirror entities\u2019
Select the \u2018mirror about\u2019 box
Select the center construction line
Exit the property manager

Eyes

Select the surface of the ghost figure
Make one circle with a distance of 1.1 cm from the edge, 1.6 cm away from the top, and 1.15 cm in width
Select the circle
Select \u2018mirror entities\u2019
Go to 'mirror about'
Select the construction line
Exit property manager

Paperclip Smile

Make a line 4.7 cm, 1.23cm away from the right line
Make a 2.54cm line with an angle of 135
Select the lines
Select \u2018mirror entities\u2019
Go to \u2018mirror about\u2019
Select the center construction line
Exit the property manager
Select the lines again
Select \u2018offset entities\u2019
Ctrl + select the 2 lines just drawn
Set the parameters to 0.6 cm
Select cap ends
Select arcs
Exit the property manager
Exit the sketch

Extruding

Select boss base extrude
Set the thickness to 0.1 cm
Exit the property manager

Design Choices:

The constraint box placed from the origin so it would print properly.
We remeasured and looked at our original sketch plenty more times before we felt confident enough to place down the constraint box and line.'
The measurements on the sides and top are the dimensions for the constraint box and the lengths for parts of the ghost. In this case, it's the left line and the space for the bottom triangles.

The second line was added my mirroring the first one
We started adding the top lumps of the ghost onto it
The measurements were an unsure topic at which exact point to start measuring from

The lumps on top got fully placed with mirroring.
An accurate measurement of the arcs was placed later on as the first one was simply put to reflect my partner's earlier work.
The triangles were one of the hardest parts of finishing the sketch as they were so difficult to get exact. The first two lines would always be equivalent but the third would somehow be longer. After a very long time of playing around with it, they finally became equal with the help of the \u2018Equal\u2019 relation on the first 3 left lines. After that, I mirrored them and the shape closed.
I started the eye placement with a rough estimate before looking at the exact size next class.

Both of the eyes were placed on the sketch.
This step required precision as its measurements couldn't easily be based of the top of the ghost. Because of this, we decided to remeasure the diameter of the circle along with the distance between the two eyes. This was mainly for aesthetic reasons. If they were too close together, they wouldn't be similar once we compared them to the original.
Points were manually added to the sides of the circles to aid in adding smart dimensions & getting accurate measurements

The smile was added to the ghost before we began extruding.
At first, we tried to make the smile by sketching only half of the smile, offsetting, then mirroring, but that was unsuccessful. We decided to make the half the smile, mirror those two lines, then offset and the smile came out looking similar to the original model, which was the goal.
The eye measurement was changed because we remeasured it and a different number came up on the caliber compared to the previous time.
A lot of measurements were added to our paper sketch as it turns out we needed a lot fo additional measurements

Extruding

After finishing, exiting the sketch, and getting permission to continue, I selected one of the extrude tools and set the thickness to 0.1 cm (as it said to on the document).
I gave the \u201cfinished\u201d product a spin in the program then chose to make purple the color.
At first, my partner and I were going to base the thickness of the original model we were given, but we chose to follow what the constraint document said.

Adding Initials

This was also another VERY difficult step in the finalizing process for me. I couldn't figure out how to change the placement of my letters for such a long time, I had to have my partner walk me through it. It took us at least 15+ minutes to work out why it wasn't working for me while it was working for my partner. Eventually, we figured it out and got most of my initials onto the ghost. I decided not to place my middle initial as it would've taken up too much space in between the smile.
