Apple AirTag Wallet

So this came to fruition after numerous occasions where I lost my card holder/wallet and wasn't able to recover it as I had been all over. Originally, I was looking for an already made solution, however every AirTag wallet I purchased had one issue or another that ended up making it a deal breaker for me. This design encompasses the shortcomings that I've found with similar ready made wallets on the market:

1) The AirTag wasn't ever secure enough, and it would usually just spin around. This design starts with a base holder from dwffls which has a very sturdy integrated collar mechanism to hold the AirTag in a specific orientation. I've slightly modified the original design though so that you can flip the AirTag to whichever side you prefer to be on the outside. The model is optimally made to be used with the silver part towards the outside, however. Once seated, the AirTag won't change orientation without significant effort, so you can actually orient the apple symbol properly in this design. The AirTag is also reinforced behind it to ensure it will remain in place even upon impact.

2) Existing solutions usually will block off one side with an extra set of elastic, which i find to be annoying as sometimes Its more convenient to press/pull in either direction. On this design, there is a finger notch to make things easier to manage, however you have the option to slide the cards out either side. At the same time, the mechanism keeps the contents together and I've not found any issues with the cards staying in place. Due to the slim design profile, it naturally promotes the cards to stay organized and in the intended orientation.

3) None of the minimalistic AirTag wallet solutions I found came with any way to hold additional contents aside from cards. Yes, you can technically put stuff in between cards but that's a messy solution. Instead, on the opposing side of the wallet there is a small slot just big enough to fit some extra cash or paper/receipts, which conveniently uses the elastic band beneath the contents to keep the items in place. There's also a convenient thumb cutout to quickly extract whatever you have stuffed in there. I've thoroughly tested this solution and as long as you don't stuff it with too much, it works quite well in both retaining and letting go of any paper you have inside of it.

And that's about it - This is in “beta” at the moment, as theres still some minor improvements I'd like to make, however I'm confident in releasing this version as a "fieldable" solution. In other words, I'm confident enough in the design to actually use it myself.


Extra items you'll need: 
- 12 x  M2 x 4 countersunk screws
- Elastic band (up to 21mm width)

I purchased some elastic band from a local thread shop and just sewed it to the exact loop diameter I wanted. The diameter of the loop obviously determines the elasticity of the wallet. Due to the design, there is technically no maximum card limit, however reasonably speaking you can probably hold a max of 20 or so cards before it would just be too bulky to carry around. If you have that many cards or more, unfortunately it seems I won't be able to help you :(

ASSEMBLY NOTES:
Self explanatory. Bottom1 goes with Top1, Bottom 2 goes with Top2. I suggest printing the top pieces in something more heat resistant than just PLA, preferably carbon fiber nylon or polycarbonate. ASA should work pretty well too. For the bottom pieces, I used PETG as it allowed for the cards to slide in and out easier while also keeping them in place. Once you secure the elastic loop between the wallet halves, you can screw the sides together. I recommend putting the seam of your elastic loop where the airtag is housed (if it has a seam, that is).
