Inspired by one of Stefan @CNCKitchen's videos about vibration isolation for his Prusa and the contest this week for using magnets, I thought it would be fun to explore the idea of using magnetically-stiffened flexure feet for my Prusas instead of the boring foam I had previously :)
I have some additional plans for adding damping and maybe improving the interface to the printer, but I put a set of this design under each of my printers and have been using them the last couple of days. If you want to add a small bit of damping, you can cut some 1mm thick copper strips and glue them over the top of the bottom magnets. This will give at least a little bit of eddy current damping. Not sure the print performance is any better, but at least now they look complicated! I'll probably do some testing/playing around with this variant for a bit before modifying them, I'd welcome any ideas or suggestions! I can confirm they are at least as quiet as the foam I had under the machine previously and I haven't had a print failure out of the 10-15 parts I've run thus far.
