IKEA SAMLA Spool Holder

I wanted a way to store my filament spools in an IKEA SAMLA 22l box with the ability to put a 500g Silica Gel packet under them.

This is probably not the easiest way to do this, but it works for me and fits the SAMLA boxes pretty good. The clearance under the spools is 50mm (spools to SAMLA floor, not taking into account the “ribs” sitting on the floor).

To fully assemble it, you need:

• 4 M3 Hexnuts
• 2 M3x8mm SHCS ("socket head cap screws")
• 2 M3x10mm SHCS
• 8-14 M3 Heat set inserts (5mm OD, 6mm high)
• 8-14 additional M3x10mm SHCS

The number of screws depends on whether you will want to fasten the upper part using all screws (14) or just 2 on each side (8).

The model is split into a top and bottom part to eliminate the need for support material and into a left and right part to be able to fit it onto the print bed.

The parts are joined by some puzzle type connectors and screws with nuts and heat set inserts.
