I've decided to remove alternative versions of the Fluxi, now only the 4x2mm magnet version remains. Added a video showcasing my favourite Fluxi setup.
Let's face it - Fluxi is not innovative or groundbreaking, but it is cool and fun as heck.
It is designed to provide a satisfying and engaging sensory experience for people who need to keep their hands busy or relieve stress. Fluxi features a series of interlocking magnetic discs that slide along a track, creating a mesmerizing and rhythmic motion that can be enjoyed for hours on end. Or annoy your coworkers (my Fluxi is already banned lol).
Experiment with different colors, mix&match plates of the same size to create multi-staged slider and show me what you can do with Fluxi!
I recommend textured outside plates and smooth plate for the inside. But there are no rules! Do what you want!! Make a 6 story sandwitch!
Experiment with infill patterns, top/bottom patterns to create the most interesting look!
For starters, I'd recommend one textured plate and one smooth or the sandwitched design seen in picture above.
For the best clicking feeling I'd recommend one 2x4 textured plate, two 2x4 smooth plates and one 2x2 smooth plate!
It has additional function of being a clicker!
Different print surfaces, different materials and configurations (magnet direction etc.) create different sliding and snap feeling, experiment!!
You need to make sure your printer is dialed in, there are tight tolerances in this project. You can print a test from the “tests” folder to check tolerances with your magnets.
These are tolerances for every version:
Be careful when inserting embedded magnets! In my case I ruined one print, because i moved the bed :P (I got Ender 3 Pro).
Watch out for the polarity of the magnets!! - One side has to be of one polarity and the other of the opposite.
The friction-fit version does not feature textured top.
The sliding side is best printed on glass surface (or G10/smooth PEI) to slide better.
If you are able to, print the textured-top with eg. TPU! Much improved grip.
You can also use 2x2 on 2x4 to have different sliding feeling!
If you like the project, support me by using it! If you need a bit different size or different magnet variation, please leave a comment and I'll see what I can do about that!
Create new textures, just go wild!
