I needed a way to organise all of my metric bolts, nuts & brass inserts.

So I made this case based off @whity's rugged box design & combined Zack Freedman's Gridfinity.

This box has pre-made labels that can be printed if you have an MMU, they are only the types I had that I wanted to organise though. If you don't have an MMU you could print the labels in white PLA and just use a sharpie to label things. I used blutac to affix the labels so it was easy to change things around.

I've included bins that are:

  • 42x42x42 mm
  • 42x42x21 mm (Stack 2 per cell)
  • 42x42x14 mm (Stack 3 per cell)
  • 42x42x10.5 mm (Stack 4 per cell)
  • 42x84x42 mm
  • 42x84x21 mm (Stack 2 per 2 cells)

I don't want to call this a proper Gridfinity product as I've broken the standard a little to suit my needs, there are no magnets and I have a ¼ height bin that isn't a multiple of 7mm. Otherwise this should be mostly Gridfinity compatible.

The lid of the box is designed to seal the tops of the bins to that no bits can fall out even when shaken or turned upside down.

As always I've included a STEP file for those that wish to make remixes.

Update:

  • 2023 May 25: Updated the 3MF, STEP & STL files to be the correct version without an upside down label (apologies to anyone impacted by this).
  • 2023 July 8: Updated the lower inserts to have more clearance.
  • 2023 August 12: Added a no label 5x5 lid.
