This part was designed to be printed with TPU with a .4mm nozzle. I chose Polymaker TPU95. 2-3 walls with 20% gyroid infill seems to give it enough stiff/squish ratio to work nicely.
Tip: experiment with the PrusaSlicer infill modifier to increase density in the areas near the screw hole to beef this thing up where it matters, while leaving the ‘mandibles’ soft and squishy.
Version 1 - printed nicely but needed the cue to fit more snug, and just one instead of two wall-mounting screws.
Version 2 - fits perfectly at the best height for a standard pool cue. But design needs to mount with a bigger more common screw, so…
Version 3 - adjusted the hole size to fit a standard drywall screw. Added heavy 60 degree chamfers to reduce material required and to reduce the surface area in contact with the pool cue, also helps the TPU to not sag as much. Thickened the surface that mates to the wall, and used prusaslicer to add 100% infill zones around this wall, and around the hole where the screw goes, to minimize deformation when the screw is torqued.
Ready to load up the build plate to make 10 together, overnight.
I'll upload more pics when I get a chance, and I will also upload a model for the plug that hides the screw.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
