I made this magnetic strap for meters...or whatever needs it.  Temporarily hang a meter or some other lightweight tool from a steel surface when you need an extra hand.  I use a 1" hook and loop strap, hot glued into a double looped tether.  The unit uses 2 soft o-rings for extra grip in shear.  It holds about 2 lbs ok on 24ga steel.  Draping the strap over a 90° corner or better increases the holding strength.  The closer the magnet is to the surface the better it holds, but if the o-rings aren't in contact, you lose the shear strength, so it's designed with the o-rings sitting about 0.01" (0.25mm) proud of the magnet.

Ancillary magnets

O-ring assortment - offers 10 of each o-ring used.

Other hardware: #6 x 1.5" pan head machine screws (2), #6 x .5" flat head machine screw(1), #6 Nyloc nut.  CA glue for ancillary magnets.

Other things I've thought about include using buckles to add quick change versatility for multiple tools, meters, or other devices, or making clips or cases for specific meters or phones.

For best results, print the main part with the o-ring grooves up and support touching build plate only.
