Instead of the unreliable and hard to tune hall effect sensor I am using a OMRON D2F-5 microswitch and a 7mm steel ball. This give reliable results with minimal tuning. 

The part is deisgned to fit, no adjustment should be needed. just put in the 7mm ball and then the OMRON switch - its a press fit for the optimal distance for best trigger results.

 

2023-04-27: added v2 which has a thicker top surface to make sure the ball doesnt bind when the extruder is screwed on top.
