Update 4/25/23: Added a parametric Fusion360 version that you can customize to your liking, has built-in tolerances for of +0.1 for magnet diameter (depth is exact).  Enter the values you want for your magnets and have fun!

Update 4/23/23:  Added infill instructions on strengthening the print based on my destruction testing.

A bottle opener that's designed to stick to the bottle top and the fridge!  Needs only three 6x3 magnets + 1 US or euro penny.  Sticks to a fridge when not in use to make it easy to find, and to the top of a bottle to make alignment easy!

Remodeled and improved from scratch in Fusion based on a design I found on thingiverse (cited below).  3MFs and STEP for the base design provided to make people's lives easier.

Versions:

Not sure what to print ?  I recommend trying OneHandBottleOpener_3mag_6x3 first.  Other variants are also provided to accommodate people's needs.

US Penny Versions

  • OneHandBottleOpener_3mag_6x3 (assumes 6x2.7 mm actual magnets)
    • + a “_deepholes” version for actual 6x3 mm measurements.
  • OneHandBottleOpener_NoMag (No magnets version, US penny)

Euro-penny-coin versions:

  • OneHandBottleOpener_Euro_3mag_6x3 (assumes 6x2.7 mm actual magnets)
    • + a “_deepholes” version for actual 6x3 mm measurements.

Printing:

  • Recommend printing in PETG for durability.  PLA should also work, but will be more brittle.  PLA+/Tough PLA would be more appropriate for this design if using PLA. Shown printed in cloudy white PETG.  If you want to be really really sure, go for something like polycarbonate or reinforced nylon, but this is probably overkill.
  • Recommend using 5-6 perimeters for strength.  Note that if you don't use enough perimeters or strong printing settings, the part of the model which undergoes the most force is this area pictured in my destruction test.  I recommend an infill modifier of 100% in this area for strength, as pictured in the gallery:
  •

Assembly:

  • Magnets should press-fit into place, but I recommend a dab of thin superglue to keep them in their holes.
  • Similarly, penny should press fit into place, but a tiny bit of thin glue should keep it in the right spot for opening bottles.

Other notes:

To keep things from getting too crazy, I included just 1 STEP file, which corresponds to the recommended base design of OneHandBottleOpener_3mag_6x3.  If you need other sizes or modifications, start from there, and it should be easy to change. Or leave a comment asking for a specific version and I’ll try and make one .

Notes:  My “6x3” magnets were actually ~6x2.7 mm , so I modeled the depth off those.  If you have deeper actual 6x3 mm magnets, you'll want the deep hole version.
