My kids love Minecraft. So this was born. I took 2 great models and blended them to create this bad boy. There were a couple of tweaks along the way but after I got it right here is the finished product.
I made the model larger, and used a concrete looking pla to print the cover, and silver pla to print the gears and handle parts and a wood filament that I stained for the handle.
There are 3 parts to the handle that need to be glued together, but the rest clips together and use the screws from you switch plate to screw it to the original switch. You may need slightly longer screws depending how long your original switchplate cover screws are.
I printed my cover face up with supports, but it could probably be printed face down as well. it will still need supports just not as much I guess. 6 of one half a dozen of the other. So you can decide what's best for you.
Glue the 3 pieces together for the handle. Slide the slider gear into the holder and place it halfway up. The groove and bottom corners may need to be sanded a bit depending how your tolerances are on your machine. It should slide snugly but not so tight it gets stuck. Put the handle over the slider gear so the handle is pointing straight out and insert the pin and put the little c clip on the other end of the pin to hold it all together as 1 unit. Put the cover on the wall and line it up, then put the assembled unit in the slot with the handle pointing straight out will give you access to the screw holes, you may need to move the handle up or down slightly while you screw in the screws. I've also included a little stand for making the staining of the wood handle easier if you choose to do so, but its not completely needed. I made 2 so it will accept 2 at once. Stain it before gluing the handle together.
And enjoy! I know my kids do.
