Parametric coin holder (mincovník), completely configurable in terms of stack sizes, denominations, layout. Also comes with a stand with two different angles, depending on how you attach the stand.
The default model is a small holder for the CZK/Kč currency (Czech Crown/Česká koruna) for 10 coins of each type (1,2,5,10,20,50 CZK/Kč).
Printing orientation
You can basically print the coin holder in two orientations:
- Back side on the printbed: you don't need supports, it's fast, but not as nice, because the round shape of coins is interrupted by layers
- Top side on the printbed (text is on the bottom side, facing upwards): Looks nicer, prints longer. You also need supports for the coin stack overhangs. Works quite well with organic supports though if you set it up properly.
It's important that the top side is on the print bed, because there are these small first coin slots where supports wouldn't fit.
See the widerCoinHolderCZK_betterLooking_withSupports for demo.
Adjusting parameters
The coin holder is designed in OpenCascade. The stand is designed in Fusion.
For adjusting:
- Unpack the
.json
coinHolder.cascadeStudio.zip
- Go to https://zalo.github.io/CascadeStudio/# , open the the project, adjust parameters
- Export as STL (you might need to run it through repair, the export from OpenCascade kinda sucks.
- The CascadeStudio also spits three parameters in the console - depth, width and height.
- Open the stand model in Fusion and enter the parameters to the values the CascadeStudio spit out.
- Export the stand.
