Feed the birds! This bird feeder is designed to hold unshelled peanuts. The body of the feeder is made out of TPU that will keep the peanuts in place, but still flex enough so birds can pull them out.

Chickadees, titmice, woodpeckers, blue jays, and nuthatches are some peanut eating birds that this might attract to your yard. I haven't read anywhere that they eat unshelled peanuts, but I have also seen catbirds and cardinals take peanuts from this feeder

Printing
  • Print at 0.2mm layer height.
  • No support needed
  • Print all parts as oriented
  • Print two of Connector.stl and one of everything else
  • Use TPU for the piece named TPU Mesh.stl. (I used filament with a hardness of 95A).
  • Use PETG for the rest.

Tips for the TPU First Layer:

  • First layer speed: 12
  • First layer bed temp: 60 (Up from the standard 50 for TPU)
  • First layer nozzle temp: Raise it 5 degrees, but keep it within the spec for your particular filament
Assembly
  1. Roll the cage (TPU Mesh.stl) and push the tabs that stick out of one side through the holes on the other side. The side that was on the bed should face out - this is not required, but it looks better IMO
  2. Put a connector piece on each side of the TPU and slide the tabs into the holes in the TPU. The bed plate sides should face in
  3. Screw the base onto one side and the roof onto the other side
  4. Raise the arms of the roof and connect them to the arm connector. Attach the hook to the hole in the arm connector

To fill, unscrew either end.
