This is a replacement housing for the blower motor and squirrel cage from the blower unit that comes with most K40 Lasers. This housing fits properly in the slot behind the machine, takes up significantly less space, and allows access to the laser compartment without removal.
You will need:
16 x M4 Nuts
04 x 8mm M4 Screws
03 x 12mm M4 Screws
06 x 15mm M4 Screws
03 x 20mm M4 Screws
You will also need to disassemble your old blower housing. You will want to keep the motor, starting capacitor, and squirrel cage (as well as the cage's mounting components).
To properly assemble this housing the mounting tab on the starting capacitor will need to be removed.
Before assembly ensure that all M4 nuts have been seated fully into the nut traps. Be careful when tightening screws as you can crack the printed plastic parts by using excessive force.
There are two adapters for attaching the ventilation tube. A 4" (100mm) version and a 3" (75mm) version. You will only need to print one of these.
The assembly is fairly straightforward. Most importantly you need to make sure that your motor is centered perfectly in it's mount. If the motor is not centered properly you may cause it to bind and damage the motor's internal windings. If the motor is bound, unplug the power cable and verify that the motor is centered. Do not allow the motor to remain bound for more than a few seconds. If after verifying that the motor is centered you find that it still doesn't rotate freely you may have a warped squirrel cage.
