The rugged box and inserts are based on my parametric β€œRugged Box”.

The size of the inserts (and the box itself) can be modified in Fusion 360 (f3d file available in the files section).

Update: In the meantime I also created a version with two (or more) rows, which can be found here.

There's also a version which has higher slots and provides many different inserts for batteries, SD cards or GoPro.

Support my work

For non-Prusa parts and filaments, check out 3DJake (International, UK, Germany, France).
I'll get a small cut of any order you fulfil using these links (at no additional cost for you πŸ˜‰).

If you want to support my work directly, you can buy me a coffee.

If you want to order a Prusa printer and earn some Prusameters (I will also get some), you can use my referral code "@Whity" at checkout or click one of the following links
(the code only works for the first order of each printer model):
| CORE One | CORE One Kit | MK4 | MK4 Kit | MINI+ | MINI+ Kit | XL | SL1S | SL1S+CW1S |

Also check out my other models.

If you would like to buy the screws, square nuts or threaded inserts shown in the pictures, you can find them here:

Inserts

In Fusion 360 you can increase the β€œInsertDummies” parameter to add additional blank inserts to design your own ones very easily.

Various inserts are included already:

  • Simple container (1-4 slots wide)
  • 2 slots wide containers divided by 2 and 3

NOTE: You can (and SHOULD) fine tune the inserts in your slicer to make them fit perfectly as you want them to fit (firmer or looser), if you don't want to change it in F360. For smaller changes this is much more convenient.

Select the insert, make sure the β€œratio-lock” is disabled and slightly adjust the X and/or Y dimensions as needed (here I changed X and Y by 0.05 mm to make them slide in smoothly):

Assembly

You will need six 30mm M3 screws to assemble it.

Cut a piece a foam (~10 mm thick) for the lid to hold down the inserts when closed.

Screws

I like these screws which have a nice round head:

Or, if you want no screw head at all, which I personally like even more:
Hex socket set screws

Note: I recommend the stainless steel ones. The blackened ones are oily and have to be cleaned.

Updates

16.12.2023:

  • Added updated versions of the inserts (V2)
    • They now have a larger chamfer on the top (front & back) to work more nicely with my new multi row remix
