Spring is here and I was in need of even MOAR birdfeeders. So I set off to create a modern inspired pill shaped bird feeder. After what seemed like forever and several iterations I finally landed on this design. It's been designed in four parts that thread together. The top, bottom, perch, and accent ring. This is a super easy print and prints without the need for supports.

Bill of materials:

Roughly 220 grams of filament. Which costs me roughly $5.50 to print.

Rope or something to hang the bird feeder with. I'm just using paracord but any type of cordage should work as long as it fits the 8mm hole in the top section.

Printing:

Really easy print. No supports needed. Just print in the orientation provided in the .stl.

Layer height: .20 mm

Infill: 15%

Assembly:

Assembly should be pretty easy and relatively straight forward. I've also included several photos walking you through the process.

  • Thread the perch on to the base.

  • Run the cordage through the hole in the top and tie a couple of knots. Then thread the other side back through the hole and tie another couple of knots to create a loop.

  • Place the accent ring on the top being mindful to place the chamfered edge against the chamfer of the top.

  • Fill the top with bird goodies.

  • Screw the base to the top.

  • Flip over and hang.

Notes:

Enjoy! If you make this please consider sharing. I really do enjoy seeing everyone's makes.
