I made this model using my actual shamisen. It has a hole in the neck that can be used to run a 6mm screw rod through so that you can compensate for the pull of strings. You need a 6mm screw rod, a nut, a wingnut and a washer to put under the wingnut. Of course if you only want to use it as a decoration you don't have to use the screw rod at all. Do not permanently attach the backside because you would not be able to use the rod to compensate.

Assembly is very easy! Just snap parts together, a bit of glue and you are good to go. I designed it in a way so that it all fits nicely together.

I printed it in PLA with 25% infill with 7 perimeters and it feels very solid, almost like real wood. Pegs are 100% infill.

0.20mm layer height.

When printing the body, set filament color change at 45th layer and then again 40 layers from the top, so that your body looks like it has an actual membrane, like in my photos.
