Since the printer already comes equipped with 2 4010mm fan, we can use them in a smarter way.

This model is a very fast, print-and-install upgrade for the Sapphire Plus

I also included a print modifier you can use to get the same effect as I did (grid on the top). If you also want to use it, in Cura you can just upload the 2 models and center them; the modifier is created in such way that shares the same center as the print, to get a very precise alignment. For PrusaSlicer, you need to upload the model and then upload the modifier as a custom print modifier.

Cura settings I used for the modifier:

  • Set the modifier as “modify setting for overlaps” and select “cutting mesh”.
  • Set wall count to 2 with “alternate extra walls” active to give more strength to the infill.
  • Set top and bottom layers to 0.
  • Modify the infill as you prefer.
  • Limit the infill speed to get a good result (60mm/s instead of default 100mm/s for me).

Materials:

  • 2*4010 fans
  • 4-8*M3x12mm screws for mounting the fans onto the print
  • 4-8*M3 hexagonal nuts for mounting the fans onto the print
  • 2*M3x8mm screws to fix the mainboard to the original mounts
  • 2*M3x35mm screws to secure the top part

Printing tips:

  • Set a high minimum layer time to limit the speed, so that the mounting legs have a good dimensional accuracy of the screw guides and spacers.
