An exact replica of the plastic feet that come on the wire glass wash racks used in bars and restaurants. We had a tough time getting hold of replacements and rather than buy a whole new set of plastic trays, I figured I could print these for next to nothing. I drew up the design in Fusion 360 as an exact replica of the originals, but removed the filleting on the bottom edge to make it easier to print. I experimented with materials:
PLA is a no go as it will soften and warp in the machine
Nylon is strong but I found they took on water and rapidly deteriorated (also expensive)
ABS works well if you're used to working with it, but the geometry is prone to warping.
I had best results with PETG, printed with a 0.6 nozzle and 0.3 layers, printed quickly and it's nice and stiff so they clip on nicely.
I had a super cheap spool of unbranded brown box Chinese “white” PETG on the shelf that prints a nasty off-white/cream colour, but I found this actually gave the best results for this job.
