I was entertaining a few friends recently and decided to make homemade burgers. Like many who don't have a burger patty press I made them by hand. Forming them into balls and pressing them out between two layers of cling wrap. Not a huge deal just a bit time consuming. That's when the light bulb went off and I decided to design and print my own.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of those thick restaurant burger patties. I'm more of a smashburger type of guy. I also don't have the extra space to store a bulky burger press. With that in mind I came up with this design. It's about 12mm deep or roughly .5" and about 6" in diameter and designed in two pieces. The press portion and the handle portion. When you're done making patties just unscrew the handle and wash the two pieces. I also added some relief openings so the excess meat has a place to escape.

When using this press I HIGHLY recommend you print using PETG. I also HIGHLY advise you NOT to place raw meat actual press. Simply cover your meat with some sort of plastic cling wrap and then place the press on top of the meat and press firmly. I portion out the meat into 3-4 oz balls. Then refrigerate them for a couple of hours before pressing them into patties.

Bill of materials:

Roughly 65 grams of filament. Came out to around $1.70 in material.

Printing:

Really easy print. No supports needed. Just print in the orientation provided in the .stl. I did bump the infill on my print to 20% just to add a little extra strength.

Layer height: .20 mm

Infill: 20%

Assembly:

Thread the handle into the base. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. The threads will most certainly sheer off.

Notes:

Enjoy and please share your makes. :)
