This model was made to solve a problem with aquarium plants not staying in the substrate as well as to keep the fertilizer caplets down and near the plant's roots. The design has a small cage at the bottom that comes off and fits a fertilizer caplet, the cage clicks into place and acts like the point of the screw. You will need about 2 inches of substrate to use these anchors. If you don't plan on fertilizing and just want to hold a plant down you can screw the anchor in without the point. There is a key included in the files to help screw these into the substrate. Once the anchor is in place you remove the key then you push either a bundle of plant roots or a single plant into the anchor.
There are two options available for the anchors, clockwise and counter-clockwise depending on which you prefer.
The anchors we printed in black PLA and coated with shellac to make them aquarium safe. I printed the anchors at a 0.2mm layer height.
