The box that the Kirkland plastic wrapper comes in is fragile and frequently breaks before the roll is even finished. This design makes use of the cutter that comes with in a much more sturdy container.
The model's main body is split in half and connected together with dovetail joints to try and accommodate different size printers.
UPDATES
- 4/14/2023 - Changed dimensions to fit a brand new roll. My initial designs were based off of a used role which I then tried to add room for a new roll but even then it was too small.
Print Instructions
- I included each part as a separate STL file so you can print all files once and have a complete product
- Kirkland Plastic Wrapper Holder v3 v6 - Assembled - This version is the STL version of the separate files. You can load this, and then split the object into separate objects and print if you want. added for convenience of having to download only 1 file
- Kirkland Plastic Wrapper Holder v3 v6 - STEP - This is the step version of the STL version above. STEP files supposedly give better resolution. This is most evident on the holders which are round. If you click on “place face down” the STL version gives you MANY “flat” faces, while the STEP version will only give you the top and bottom faces as flat so it does seem to be true. however, I've noticed no difference between print quality of the STEP version vs the STL version of the holder.
Install Instructions
- Hammer/connect the two main body halves. I had to use a rubber mallet but YMMV
- Install the included cutter onto one of the sides. Doesn't matter which side.
- I had to use glue/tape as I removed mine from an existing one, but if you get a new pack the cutter should come with double-sided tape
- Put the plastic roll in first, and then put in the two holders
