EE = Ender Extended

I have taken btlucas's excellent remix of The 100 where he increased the size to use an Ender 3 bed and added some additional modifications:

  1. All parts are now printable on an Ender 3 size bed (see bottom left and right pieces)
  2. Replaced rear rods with vertical printed parts (not my idea but I co-opted it for my remix)
  3. Added chamfers for a more rounded look
  4. Replaced connector parts so that the corner pieces, as much as possible, touch each other to reduce overall length discrepancies due to print orientations, etc.
  5. The separate toolhead CAD file contains an updated fanhead that can be printed in 2 parts without supports and then assembled with 3 M3 screws and heatset inserts. The bottom part prints upside down.

Things that are not sorted out yet:

  1. The top assembly still uses some connector pieces which I might replace.
  2. More importantly, I want to figure out if there is any way to print the top frame parts without supports. We will see if this is possible.
  3. The power supply mounting is “broken” right now. I have an idea to add many heatset inserts around the bottom and then have adapter brackets to mount different components. Current thinking is that this would be a more flexible mount solution.
  4. I want to work on some cable management ideas.

This is currently a work in progress. I will be printing these parts, starting with the base in the coming week and will update as I make improvements, etc. and only adding STL files for parts I have successfully printed and used.

Ultimately, my main goal is to build a beta 1 version of this printer and then use it to reprint upgrade parts for itself as it should be 3+ times faster than iterating on the Ender :).
