This keeps your existing US toggle switch and install an IKEA square Tradfi switch over the top of it. Because this is NOT UL certified, print and use at your own risk. The image shows one printed in ASA. I used tree supports for the backplate which is why it looks so rough.

I provided two versions. The tradfi-switch version is the one pictured in the photo. The tradfi-switch-round version is a bit more artsy for those that want something a little different.

The indentations on the model are for 8x3 magnets (like these). You really only need the one in the middle. They friction fit in - but you could also put a dab of superglue in to make sure they stay.

I recorded a short video so you can see it all around:

When I printed this, I used the following settings:

  • Printer: Bambu X1C
  • Front door closed, top closed, preheated to over 40 degrees C
  • High temp plate (I actually used an Energetic plate from AliExpress)
  • 0.4 nozzle 0.16mm optimal profile
  • Polymaker Polylite ASA
  • Nozzle: 265 degrees
  • Bed: 100 degrees
  • I used Orca Slicer so it defaults to Arachne for the wall generator
  • Order of walls: outer/inner/infill (I find this is best for dimensional accuracy)
  • 3 Walls, 4 top and bottom shell layers
  • Sparse infill density: 50% / Adaptive cubic (though I'm pretty sure 15% would be fine)
  • I slow down the outer wall for quality, so speed:
    • Outer wall 50 mm/s
    • Top surface 50 mm/s
  • Support: Yes
    • Tree (auto) (If you used standard support the inner shell would probably be cleaner - but I wanted the ease of removal and you'll never see the inner shell)
    • Tree support wall loops: 2
    • Top Z distance: 0mm
    • Top interface layers: 0
  • Brim: On, 10mm (it's ASA so this is to hinder warping)

You could probably use more defaults, but this is what I did.

Print it and glue the magnet(s) in.
