LM2596 Case + 2x Wago 221 slots I have a seccondary fire alarm in my enclosure, that needs 9V. So i made an enclosure that holds 2 wago wire splices.

I reccomend you to get a small 1-2mm drill bit. Printing holes this small is kinda hard. You can drill the holes right above the wago connector so it goes from the DC converter into the Connectors. I personally feed in the wires from the side vents. But to each their own.

To secure it inside (2x 3mm * 5mm holes) But the fit is tight enough that it could be mounted as a pressure fit. Same for the lid. The wago connectors need some double sided tape to stick it to the print on the back. I might make a new version thats a bit tighter or has better tetention. This was my first time workin with Fusion 360, or anything other then tinkercad.

Needed:

  • 2x 3*5mm bolts to secure.
  • 1x LM2596 (43mm version) There is an older 48mm version too. They are effectively the same.
  • 2x Wago 221's ( the longer versions ( not depicted ) is capable of being held as a pressure fit without tape.
  • Double sided tape

If you want to mount it more securely somewere ( no double sided tape / velcro ) you could drill a hole in the bottom of the case but BEWARE that you should use plastic screws that clear the bottom of the PCB OR get a metal screw that clears it and isolate it using hotglue/electrical tape or my personal fav. Kapton/polymide tape.

Benefits:

  • Pressure fit ( minus 2 small pieces of tape )
  • As small as it needs to be
  • Cooling vents
  • Access to screw to dial in the voltage
  • No support needed ( if your printer is calibrated well enough )

NOTE*

The lid is optional, but i do reccomend you to use it to preffent stray wires etc to short anything inside. I know that there are vents, but these are a nessesity for safety.

I exported the fusion 360 files into .obj's if you need another file type hit me up.
