The Vorwerk Thermomix TM5 suffers from a terrible design flaw of its three weight sensors (=WS). These can shift or break out entirely from their internal mount causing the weight sensor(s) to malfunction (e.g. display remains at “Max” or “----” or it shows a wrong weight continously).

For opening the TM5 refer to ifixit: https://de.ifixit.com/Teardown/Thermomix+TM5+Teardown/117133

Here, the procedure to repair the TM5 “the conventional way” i.e. without modding the WS mounts → the error will most probably come back after some time, it's usually not a permanent fix:

With the modded WS mount here, the thing should last significantly longer.

What you will need:

3x M3 screw (30mm) with fitting washers and nuts (see attached pictures)

3x the 3d-printed weight sensor mount

How to print:

Metal or SLA print for best results, otherwise ABS filament (good too) or PLA (at least 0.2mm nozzle, 0.1mm layer height, 100% infill)

How to install:

Remove the original screw that held the WS in place, use a 3mm drill bit to carve out a (slightly wider) hole below the original weight sensor mount (refer to picture, ensure not to damage the weight sensor cabling with the drill!). Also remove some material of the rounded plastic edge next to it (the screw will need some space…) and clean away all plastic particles afterwards. Then insert the 30mm screw (+washers) from above through the WS's metal part and through the drilled hole. Finally install the WSM on the underside of the Thermomix as shown and slide the nut over the protruding part of the screw. Then fasten it tighly until the WS's foot sits firmly again. Repeat the procedure for the remaining two sensors and be sure to test all functions before you close the Thermomix case again. Good luck, feel free to comment or leave some likes ;-)
