Description

This is one of  a series of “Math Balls” - just for fun. Look to my Ball/Sphere collection for additional versions (there may not be additional versions at the time you read this, but I plan to create five in all) :

Assembly

There are four main pieces to this print :

  • “Top” Hemisphere which holds the “text”
  • Surround piece which fits into the top Hemisphere
  • SphereA-Hemisphere
  • Thread piece to screw the two Hemispheres together

After printing the “top” Hemisphere and the Surround piece, insert the surround into the matching opening in the Hemisphere. The Surround will be a bit of a tight fit, but it will go in.

Use the Thread piece to screw the two Hemispheres together.

In addition to the above, a simple Stand to hold the ball is included.

Print Instructions

Print in PLA using the 3mf files provided. In general :

Hemispheres and Surround :

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 10% rectilinear infill
  • variable (adaptive) layer height (more layers at the top of the prints)

Stand :

This piece has a small footprint, so a bit of glue stick on the build plate is recommended.

  • 0.3mm layer height
  • 0% infill
