This is a book stand for your library that makes it look like Darth Vader is holding your books using the Force.

Since the models are separate and the pin holding the character in place is on the book stand part, you can also just print the Vader as a figurine.

Note that if you have printed the stand of my Baby Yoda book stand, you can reuse it for this model, it is compatible.

Printing settings

For the Darth Vader:

  • Print it standing
  • Supports enabled (I recommend using tree supports)
  • Layer height: 0.15-0.20mm
  • Infill: 20% cubic subdivision, but lower would probably also work
  • Print time: Around 6 hours

⚠ There is an alternative model for Vader that comes with the end of the Lightsaber pre-supported (for FDM printers), feel free to use it if you have troubles printing the sabre, as it is quite challenging to get right.

If you still cannot get the Lightsaber to print properly, I recommend cutting it, and replacing it by a 1.5mm brass rod, which will fit perfectly. Click here for the one I used.

For the stand:

  • Print it on the side, this will make it stronger when it comes to holding the books
  • Supports enabled (only needed for the pin, it almost doesn't add any time / material)
  • Bed adhesion: A brim may be needed, depending on your printer / filament
  • Layer height: 0.2mm (you can probably go higher)
  • Infill: 100%, it needs to be strong to hold the books
  • Print time: Around 10 hours

Extra notes

The pin and the hole are a very tight fit, you will probably have to sand the pin a bit, but it's easy to do.

If the book stand slides due to the weight of the books, use some adhesive putty like Blu Tack.
