Vase-mode watering can

This watering can design can be printed in vase mode. It involves a very small bridge. you can do it, i believe in you.

UPDATE: I forgot that I had scaled 160% in my slicer. I have updated the models to be 60% bigger. 

 

I have gotten a few questions about the lack of a handle. This can is designed for vase mode, so it doesn't scale very well to large sizes (wall thickness is limited, so it can only hold a small amount of water). The shape has a divot for you to hold with your fingers, which is sufficient for holding the can.

I used surface modelling to create a cool watering can that can be printed in vase mode. 

 

I printed with 1.0mm linewidth and 0.28mm layer height. Yes, you can print 1.0mm lines with a 0.4mm nozzle. I was surprised too. 

 

I made it pretty small, for watering my office desk plant. You may want to scale up. It's not meant to be the size of a gardening watering can. if you go bigger, holding more water will require even thicker walls. 

Fun fact: The rigidity of the sidewalls is proportional to the cube of the line width. I.e. doubling the line width increases the rigidity 8x.

Print settings

Spiralize outer contours (vase mode)

smooth spiralized contours

line width: 1.0mm

Bottom line width: 0.4mm (this prevents leaks due to under extrusion) 

Bottom pattern: zig zag.

Bottom initial layer pattern: concentric (using different patterns to further reduce chances of leaks, I also love the look) 

speed: 25mm/s

Temperature: 190 deg (Ender 3 black PLA)

layer height: 0.28mm (you can probably go smaller)
