This remix is based on another design: https://www.printables.com/model/348768-ams-side-mount-spool-holder-for-bambu-printers/files

Specifically, file AMS side spool v3.STL.

Just one problem: I have this beautiful tool box from here: https://www.printables.com/model/272099-bambu-lab-carbon-x1-with-ams-top-tool-storage

and also this nifty build plate AMS side storage thingy: https://www.printables.com/model/365740-ams-side-buildplate-holder-for-bambu-lab-printers

With the original design, the metal Bambu Lab spool holder requires the AMS to be right at the edge of the printer and is just too tight. Putting the AMS in this position rather than centered, however, prevents the toolbox from fitting. My design takes the same outline and extends it out so the spool holder is away from the printer by 20mm.

Printing notes: I printed this on its side with normal (auto) supports in red PLA with 0.6mm nozzle and 0.3mm layer height, 6 wall loops, 6 top and bottom shell layers, 50% Gyroid infill and 50% infill/wall overlap with a manual 5mm brim owing to its edge orientation.

You will have to manually place the part on edge as otherwise it will orient itself in the easiest-to-print manner, which would leave the filament reel being supported by the layer adhesion strength. For greater strength, I tipped it on its side so the weight is carried by the continuous extrusion direction. The supports are a bit of work to remove in the tiny 1.5mm gap in the part. I reused the original machine screws to attach the Bambu spool holder to the part, which is “pilot drilled” for 3mm screws. It would probably be better to use a self-threading screw for plastic or wood applications. When I tightened the screws down, it developed stress at the layer lines, which I was trying to avoid. If you tighten too much, you may split the part such that the screws fall out, or the threads strip out.

Thanks to the original designers for coming up with the AMS-mounting ideas and their designs!
