Why this instead of using other existing 12864 case models:
* I didn't have any threaded brass inserts, and didn't want to wait until they arrive.
* I don't like threading screws into plastic.
* Some of the existing models are made with certain mounting position or 30x30 profiles in mind, that didn't fit with space I had available.
Why choose other models:
* you can find existing model with mounting bracket that better fits your needs
* there are smaller more optimized cases
* This model isn't fully optimized and fine tuned and some of the gaps are quite generous. I designed it so that it would fit together with the first iteration, without having to make more versions with adjustments.
* you don't like the look of screwheads on the top surface (especially non countersunk)
* there are other models which are perfectly support free
Features:
* assembles using hex nuts
* SD card hole
* directly pushable reset button, no separate part for button cover or part relying on flexing of material
* back contains a bunch mounting holes that can be used for either attaching the case directly to aluminum profile (with T nuts), or additional mounting bracket (no mounting brackets included with this model)
* includes original design file for easier editing
Required hardware:
* 4x M3x16
* 4x M3 hex nut
* other hardware of your choice for attaching to printer
Printing tips:
* printing without support is possible, but the holes for hex nuts will make a little bit of mess before the bridges randomly succeed. I forgot to add supports and for the first bridging layers it looked like it will be a failure, but it turned out fine.
Ideas for improvement if you decide to modify provided files
* The gap between top and bottom parts could be smaller.
* Distance between top and bottom surface is 16.6 mm, making the M16 screw slightly to short. Might loose a little bit more due to surface roughness. It still works but is not ideal.
* Top surface could be thinner, it's currently 2mm, but 1.5 just like back should be more than enough thus saving material. That would also make the M3x16 screws fit better.
* replace mounting holes with M4 or whatever is more convenient for you.
