I am in the process of converting my Creality Ender 3 Pro into a Rook 180 by Rolohaun 3D (extended 235 mod by Kanrog). These are the modifications that I made to the models in order to reuse as many of the parts from the Ender 3 as possible and even a place to mount a BigTreeTech Octopus.

Specifically I reused and modified the parts to fit the following:

  • Hotend
  • Bowden Extruder
  • Power Supply and Switch
  • Heated Bed and Mounting Frame
  • LCD Display (both stock and TFT35)
  • BigTreeTech Octopus v1.1

I've printed everything out of PETG (aside from bed frame which is ASA) and have been quite happy with the build so far.

Update 4/4/23

I changed a couple files to fit better and assemble easier. I specifically changed the mount for the TFT screen to allow easier access to the mounting screws. I also adjusted the hotend fan mount so the fan doesn't contact the Creality heater block.

UPDATE 5/17/23

With the build of the printer only requiring firmware tweaks now, I realized that there were a couple of things I needed to modify.

  • The holes bed mount needed to be adjusted 10mm rearward. I noticed that the nozzle would not contact the build plate on the last few millimeters of travel. This can be adjusted in firmware if you don't want to print new mounts but that will result in a slightly smaller build volume. The new files are labeled v2.
  • I also added some cable management for the toolhead. I used a drag chain and made my own adapters for the frame and toolhead mounts. This is the specific drag chain I used for this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3715002

If desired and if you have the exact same build that I do, I can send or upload the firmware build that I get working.
