The "Stitch Bow" floss holder is used to store and preserve floss for embroidery. Each of these will hold a single skein of floss from common vendors like DMC.
This model is made to blend in with your other holders. If you want them to stand out, I suggest printing them in many colors!
Two STLs are included. FlossWinder.stl
has the object aligned in the Y direction. FlossWinder45.stl
aligns the object diagonally.

Notes
This model prints very easily in PLA or ABS. Back in the day I printed these in PLA on cold blue tape with no problems. They take 20 minutes or less to print, half that time on a delta or high quality machine.
Post-Printing
The 3D printed version may have sharper edges than the original object, and the small ridges at the ends are only on one side. If this matters to you, you can round off sharp edges with an xacto-knife or small file.
How I Designed This
This model was built in OpenSCAD and the source code is included. You can adjust the parameters at the top of the file to make holders of different sizes. Make them shorter or longer with bar_len
, wider or narrower with bar_width
, and thicker, and thinner with thickness
. If you prefer to have a hole on the label part, you can add one by changing the hole diameter label_hole_d
.
