Clips to better hold the Z smooth rods in place.

These simple add-on parts are for use on an original Prusa i3 with those "z-top" parts that have a hole, which may potentially allow the smooth rods to move up and down. Clipping these onto the "z-top" parts will prevent the smooth bars from moving.

Print instructions

Print Settings

  • Rafts: No
  • Supports: No
  • Resolution: 0.2mm

Notes

These print well in either PLA or ABS. Supports are built-in, so no need to add them.

How I Designed This

These parts were made in OpenSCAD. You can customize the SCAD file to tailor them to your needs. The included STL files will be fine if your smooth bars are the perfect length, but you should set leftExtraSlot or rightExtraSlot if a bar sticks up above the Z top.

To use the "ztopper_both_in_situ" option in the SCAD file, you will need to download and unzip the data.zip file in the same folder as the SCAD file. It contains a data folder with the z-top-left.stl file.
