The Next Evolution of Bellow Blasters!

You may have played with air-launched toys as a kid, but now you can MAKE them! Bellow Blasters propel vehicles with a powerful puff of air! This time, Bellow Blasters take FLIGHT!

Yes, it flies!

When printed with the suggested settings, the solid infill in the nose of the jet, hollow body and airfoil-shaped wings, this plane will actually GLIDE farther than it would otherwise when launched!

Easy to print, light on material

Use the suggested 3MF files in PrusaSlicer to bring in the suggested print settings! Printed as suggested, the jet will be around 10g of plastic - SUPER LIGHT!

With proper cooling, this model will require no supports!

Additional suggestions:

  • The plane works best with 1-2 shells and no infill through most of the body, and 100% infill towards the nose to allow for stable flight
  • For the stealth jet, be sure to use a brim to stabilize the small contact patches for the wings and consider using organic supports for even more stability
  • The air launcher need not have much infill - just enough to take some abuse from punching the bellows
  • Print the jet and air launcher in PLA - the jet should be quite durable!
  • The bellows work best with 95A Shore TPU - the firmer TPU is not only easier to print, but it also is less prone to collapsing unpredictably when operated
  • Make sure your TPU is DRY before printing to avoid stringing and bubbles - a food dehydrator works best. DON'T USE AN OVEN
  • When printing the bellows, watch for holes; you may need to experiment with settings to get things to print properly

NOTE:

The cube you see at the nose of the jet is only an infill modifier for PrusaSlicer. It is not a physical object. However, I'm uncertain if it would be made into a physical object in other slicers that support 3MF files.

Keep this in mind and use the STL version of the jet if you run into issues.

CAUTION:

Do NOT launch the jet towards any living thing - flying toys can cause serious eye injuries. I am not responsible for any accidents you may cause or encounter when using this toy.
