I love Bob's model. The tape trays print perfectly. The problem isn't Bob's model. It's me. I'm craft and art obsessed and I have … um … a LOT of washi tape of different sizes. So ….
Model:
Same tray, but with the separators removed.
Same spindle diameter, but is now three 190mm long spindles with no base: one with a flat end and male threaded end, one with a flat end and female threaded end, and one with both male and female threaded ends. Print what you need, combined to … infinity?
Also made a thin version of the ring fitting that holds the tray on the spindle so that I could increase the spacing between trays to accommodate taller rolls AND that could be used as flanges to hold the top and bottom of the spindle (as if the spindle were vertically sandwiched between a counter and cupboard).
Printing:
In Progress. Details to follow.
Note to the one person who downloaded the model before I finished printing the spindles:
it turns out that I had the male and female threads going opposite ways. Ha … ha? So, I deleted that file for now. I used a Dremel to remove the threads from the male end and just used epoxy to combine the legs. It's not ideal, but it works. Sorry about that! New file coming later today.
The author remixed this model.
