I have recently adopted a semi-feral ex-outdoor cat that has never seen a cat flap in it's life and is desperately suspicious of them. I originally tied the flap up with string but as he’s a slow learner I didn’t want to leave it like that for long, so I designed this simple device.
The Sure DualScan cat flap has a large inside ‘tunnel’ to accomodate the exit chip scanner. I leveraged that aspect to create a very simple shape that holds the flap open with no glue or fasterners of any kind. I guess it may work for other cat flap designs, but I can't vouch for that as these are the only ones I have!
I printed with Anycubic trans PLA at 0.2mm layers and 15% infill and found it to be strong enough. No supports or brim requred.
