Ball joint (18mm) to Audi ventilation adapter

Application

Connect this adapter to your car vent outlet. It is sized for and extensively tested on an Audi Q5. It might fit out-of-the-box for other car models as well. I am totally willing to adapt it for other cars, if you let me know the dimensions of your car vent outlet.

Once this adapter is connected, you have a 18mm ball available that fits to my generic ball joint eco system. Especially the smartphone holder out of this eco system should come handy in your car. But feel free to mount to it whatever comes to your mind.

Specific design ideas

I am actually pretty proud on this design. It is based on two specific idea (that took me a while to come up with). One is the flat hook design with a thread on it's edges, that is guided within a slotted rod. The other one is to make the 18mm ball removeable, by giving it a M10 inner thread. That allows to use the generic ball joint eco system also with parts that do not fit through the hole of the lock nut. 

Printing

All parts can be printed without supports in the uploaded orientation. For the 18mm ball I recommend using a brim.

All my tests were done with parts printed from PETG but PLA should work as well.
