Since COVID we've been doing a lot of outdoor dining. Here is an adjustable clip to clamp the picnic table cloth in windy weather. The best thing about this clip is that it can be used for nearly any thickness of picnic table!
This is a revised design that integrates the slide and spring-release into one piece, eliminating the former pin and separate spring-release. This version also has printed-in teeth to improve grip to the table cloth and table. It is probably best to print this design in PETG instead of PLA to prevent fatigue of the spring release.
The primary clamp can be printed with no supports and probably no brim depending on your printer. The slide mechanism and spring-release can also be printed without supports on most printers, but may need supports if you have a cooling issue.
Note: Updated Nov 2022 to remove unsupported area on slide and to increase tolerance slightly.
Print pieces on their side. Note: The design is not symmetric and will print best with the orientation as published. The primary clamp can be printed with no supports and probably no brim depending on your printer. The slide mechanism and spring-release also should not need supports if your printer has good cooling.. Assemble by pressing spring-release and putting the slide mechanism on the primary clamp. The teeth should face each other. Work the slide back-and-forth while depressing the spring-clamp to make sure it moves freely.
