**CALLING EVERYONE WITH THE BEST PRINTS TO STEP FORWARD**

- Your Work on this project will be needed to help me succeed in building a super-list (or database rather) of the best prints of all my models on every kind of printer submitted - along with exact copies of their print settings - filiments - temps etc (PLEASE PM ME PLEASE FOR THE EXACT SETTINGS AND INFO I NEED FROM YOU TO COMPILE THIS)

- Any work you submit to me I know will greatly help the general public achieve perfect prints the first time; like how a lot of these guys expect (myself at first included - we all start somewhere) and I'm sure you all know as well as I do that when you do a 2+ hour print or something just to see that one thing is messed up between yours and the guys who has a perfect print right above you with the same printer that it discourages me from wanting to reprint. So this is your change to help me out and the community by PMing me (or i'll pm you if your build is kickass - and would just ask for cooperation and friendliness between all parties involved as I think we stand to all make the printables community a better place by doing work like this to make the genral users a lot more confident and secure in their prints and not blowing through filament left and right.

Thank you to you all for your continued support!

EDIT: SEE NOTES BELOW!!

*Some Dev Notes For My Followers & Soon To Be Followers:*
I'm back a day early and already stariting my first project with this - as it stands from reading my messages and explaining a lot on here that there is just issues that cant simply be fixed easily going from one printer to another - SO this project begins and I need all of your help - new weapons and other really neat self defense tools and gadgets will be dropped in September or if we finish this project sooner - then I think I'll begin my promise of dropping some super cool - fully functional famous game / anime / art weaponry of different eras and production origination nationalities )

So if you have anything you want to see please pm me
I love new ideas and would love to bring some of yours to life.

  • Total length: 9.7"

  • Grip width: 0.4"

***** BEFORE CARRYING THIS FOR ANY OTHER REASON THAN TO COSPLAY - ENSURE YOUR PRINTS ARE STRUCTURALLY SOUND WITH A TEST ONE PRINTED TO SEE IF YOUR Z-LEVEL NEEDS CALIBRATED. ****

  • PLEASE NOTE THAT BLADE MAY NOT FIT IN ITS DEFAULT PRINT ORIENTATION WHEN OPENING CERTAIN VERSIONS OF PRUSA SLICER - PRUSA PRINTERS NEED TO CHANGE POSITION OF THE KNIFE TO BE ACROSS THE PLATE DIAGONALLY OTHERWISE IT WILL REGISTER AS TOO LARGE TO PRINT

*** Remember - HOTTER AND SLOWER MAKES FOR A STRONGER BUILD THAN QUICK AND COOL WHEN WORKING WITH ITEMS THAT DEPEND ON LAYER ADHESION TO BE USED IN ANY PRACTICAL SITUATION ***

Recommended printing settings:

Use of Supports:

Yes - Paint on with Organic Supports (w/ support enforcers enabled) if you print the Tanto flat instead of how it is displayed in the .3mf and .stl. If printed along the spine of the knife (as pictured in .3mf and .stl) use of Auto Generated Grid supports works just fine it will just leave the blade looking a little bit rough on the upper portion where as printing with the blade flat on its side and using organic or grid supports it will definitely not look as clean. (see section below too)

  •  PRINT ALL BLADES ON BACK SIDE OF KNIFE USING MY GCODE FOR REFINED BLADE SETTINGS (OR TWEAK THEM IF YOU THINK YOUR PRINT CAN COME OUT BETTER

  • SUPPORTS + BRIM FOR BETTER ADHESION WORST LOOK BUT 0% CHANCE OF FAILED PRINT

  • NO BRIM + GRID SUPPORTS FOR CLEAN LOOK ^ GRID WAS USED ON PICTURES ABOVE (~0.1% chance of failed print)

  • NO BRIM + PAINTED ON ORGANIC SUPPORTS FOR CLEANEST LOOK (the failure is on you)

  • Material: Sunlu PLA+ (highly recommend - eSun PLA+also works - PC is the best though. PETG has a harder time getting the fine lines on blade perfectly smooth.

  • Use of Supports: Yes - Paint on with Organic Supports (w/ support enforcers enabled) if you print the Tanto flat instead of how it is displayed in the .3mf and .stl. If printed along the spine of the knife (as pictured in .3mf and .stl) use of Auto Generated Grid supports works just fine it will just leave the blade looking a little bit rough on the upper portion where as printing with the blade flat on its side and using organic or grid supports it will definitely not look as clean.

  • Optimal Layer height: 0.15mm MAX for PLA/PLA+ (.3mf and .gcode are in 0.15mm with the .3mf being optimized for Prusa MK3s+ Printers that are well calibrated or factory calibrated)

  • Hot-End Temp: 220-225 for first layer smush and good adhesion if not using brim (not suggested since supports will be enabled)

  • Hot-Bed temp:  IN BEGINNING FOR FIRST LAYER CREATION AND GOOD SMUSH - 62-65°C *-ESPECIALLY FOR PLA OR PLA+ -* -→ You can use a glue stick here as well and then drop the temp to 60 for the remainder of the print UNLESS using a different filament type than recommended.

  • Infill: 100% Solid Infill this is for cosplay (self defense) after all.

  • Parameters: 4+ (4 prints very nice) see pictures above.

  • Makers Note - (Silk PLAs and Cheap PLAs, Nylon blends work different than PLA's in terms of Stringing, ASA is known for shrinking etc etc.)
Imaged pictured was done in Polycarb and the proceeding images available above will show how all your prints should come out with that gcode file on a well calibrated mk3s+ with all of the filament types from Silk PLA to PETG etc. and its variants. + Official Numbers on the strength test of the different materials in reference to the design.

If is is not printed a little hot (optimal temps mentioned above and are in the gcode/.3mf) then you run the risk of an easy break. Optimal temperatures to ensure layer adhesion should be raised to just below the point where you're getting stringing if you're looking to optimize the strength of the knife.

- I will do Prints of the gcode posted with all filaments very soon (weekend of 3/11/23-3/12/23) for comparison chart on how they print on same settings with same calibrations on gcode in source using my settings outlined above along with the configuration of the .3mf

Disclaimer:

I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR HOW THIS IS USED AS IT IS A PROP (a bit sharp one)
PLEASE BE SAFE - DO NOT ASSUME that just because the layering looks good that it won't break! PLEASE TEST ON A SOFT GEL TARGET OR ITEM OF YOUR CHOICE BESIDES ANYTHING LIVING (if it goes through a watermelon / pineapple *which it does*) then you have the correct calibration.

*PLEASE KNOW YOUR STATE LAWS BEFORE CARRYING THIS AS SOME STATES DO DEEM BLADE LENGTH AS ANYTHING THEY “DEEM TO BE A KNIFE OR BLADED WEAPON” AND IT CAN OFFSET THE LIMIT OF LEGAL BLADE LIMIT FOR THAT STATE SINCE IT IS A FIXED HANDLE KNIFE. CONSULT STATE/COUNTY/COUNTRY's WEBSITE REGARDING ANY REGULATIONS TOWARDS KNIFES IF YOU WANT TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION. *

**** PLEASE SCALE DOWN THE .STL AND REPRINT IT IN A LEGAL SIZE ACCORDING TO ANY STATE/FEDERAL/COUNTRY ORDINANCE. ****

** AS THIS IS A “MOVIE PROP” THERE SHOULD BE 0 ISSUES ANYWHERE **

(HOWEVER USE CHICAGO, IL FOR EXAMPLE - 2.5in blade limit when carrying concealed and must be 18 to even own a knife - while this may be a prop by all arguable standards, misuse of even a prop can result in individual prosecution depending on the nature of its use) - since the blade here is nothing more than thin PLA it would be more than arguable that it's less dangerous than a metal screw driver - however do not take this as any sort of legal advice.

Stay Safe
