Upcycle Old Lithium Ion Battery by converting them to AA form factor (with f3d)

Used this for powering electric toothbrush with a Li Ion battery. Now I got a more powerful electric toothbrush.

Upcycle Old Lithium Ion Battery by converting them to AA form factor (with f3d)

This project is only for people that has a good understanding of electronics, voltage, and power requirements of devices.

It is easy to get it wrong and damage a device with this mod.

However, if done right, it does add a lot of value, and reduces e-waste.

Also, please note:

There is a Modular Version that I also designed and has been easier to use (recharge) than this version:

But, this one can also be used for the “2nd Shorted Battery” for a device that requires 2 X AA.

I salvaged the battery from a discarded e-cig.

Used a couple of diodes to drop the voltage to what the electric toothbrush needed.

And the electric toothbrush is now working with a Li Ion battery.

The voltage drop or modification will obviously vary from application to application.

Luckily in this case the toothbrush worked much better with a voltage of around 3V instead of the stock 1.5V power source.

In some cases where you need 2 AA batteries to power 3V, you could print 2 of these, and have 1 just short out with a wire.

So 1 Li Ion converted battery (3.6V which can be lowered with diodes) will easily power the device.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Your electric tooth brush / or any other device might have different specs and power requirements.

Please do your own calculations and test accordingly when creating the circuit.

I can't be liable for any damages.

The model is available for free download and use.
