Netsuke - Shoki capturing an oni

These netsuke figurines are meant to be hung from the clothing and /or purses of the wearer and in so, often don't sit flat on a surface.  I am leaving the models as is but if you would like them to sit nicely feel free to do a plain cut in the software of your choosing.

This just made my day. I finally figured out a system to carve the UV details into models using blender. Its a combination of subdivision/using displacement with a uv modifier/ and smoothing. Never could find a YouTube video on how to do this... so I should make a vid so nobody else has to figure this out on their own... Very adaptable can add as much offset and thickness of details as you like. Many models you find have very low poly (low detail) meshes with highly detailed photo overlays (which don't show up in the model).. those low poly models look like the one on the far left. My technique lets you make that amorphous blob look like 3d render but in real life.
