I wanted to be able to use the mounting plate that came with my Targus tripod to mount my camera on a flexible arm in my “photo booth.”
The mounting plates are available on Amazon and the only other required hardware is a ¼" 20 “coupler” from the hardware store. I could have used a ¼" 20 heat-set insert, but I already had this. I did heat set it, but you could probably use a hammer to gently persuade it into place.
The flexible arm has a ¼" 20 on each end and is really probably made for photo lights. This is a cheap version and just has enough hold for my camera/flash. A better quality arm would probably hold a heaver setup.
The vise will actually grab anything with a 60° dovetail on the attachment side and the jaws will open as far as 55mm and close to 10.5mm. (Edit: Screw 2 design should let the vise close completely (careful! pinchey!)
I printed this as a test using PETG with 3 outer layers and 5% infill. I expected to reprint it a bit more support, but it doesn't really need it, it seems.
