The rear windows of extended cab Silverado/Sierra from 1999 - 2007 have a tendency to exhibit wind noise due to a poor design which prevents the window from being pulled tight against the seal.

These longer latch links result in the window being pulled tighter to the door when closed and should reduce or eliminate the wind noise. They can be installed with no tools, though some sort of small spreader tool may be helpful.

The part isn't symmetrical (there's a hole in one side), but the same part is used on both left/right windows. There are different lengths available from 0mm—3mm allowing for different adjustments. Use the length that pulls the window flush to the door's outer surface.

Print in ASA or PETG for strength and UV resistance. Print upright (as installed) with supports to ensure correct strength orientation.

To install:

  1. Open the rear window about 75% and push the inside C-shaped end of the link off of the pin of the window frame. It can take a bit of force, so be sure to protect the pin/frame by supporting it the opposite direction.
  2. With the link detached from the pin, twist the handle+link assembly 45° and pull straight out from the window to remove it.
  3. Remove the link from the handle by spreading the handle's upper/lower walls.
  4. Reverse procedure to install new link in handle and assembly to window/door.
