This Fully Enclosed Open Source Cartridge Reader Shell (FEOS) is designed to be durable, well protected, and look stunning on your desk.
The shell is a multi piece assembly, the shell base, the cover, battery and the faceplate. The “decoy tower” is only needed if you're printing the faceplate solo, such that you don't burn the sharp corner. Alternatively, you can configure your printer to rest between layers near the end of the faceplate print.
Dust covers are included for the cartridge slots. The Game Boy cover snaps into place, to remove it, pry it up with your fingernail on one side.
3MF files are included for the Bambu X1C (Bambu Studio) and Prusa MK3S+ (Prusa Slicer). I recommend using these files for the best results.
Assembly is straightforward and is covered in the video link below. The knurled nuts are heat-set, (6) into the faceplate. (4) M2x6mm are used for installing the LCD to the faceplate. (2) M2x6mm are used to mate the faceplate to the base. (7) M2x6mm marry the top board to the standoffs using the standard M2x18mm 3mm OD spacers, and (7) M2x10mm secure the bottom shell to the bottom board to the standoffs.
This shell is also available for purchase on kytor.com/store.
