Edited to add: Markury just posted an edited version of his remix, so you may not need this! But it's here in case you want to try it anyway. :)

--------

If you make Markury's Naked Iris Compass version, you may find that it is difficult to rotate because there is nothing to grip on the top ring. However, if you make ONE leaf with a longer peg on it, you can grasp that peg and use it to turn the compass without having the leaf fall out of place. It may not be the most elegant solution, but it does work, and prints in only 8 minutes besides! Note also that I made the hole that goes over the peg on the bottom part of the compass just a tiiiiiiny bit larger for easier assembly.

So, to complete a Naked Iris Compass with this fix, you need these files:

From Ishdo's original design:

  • Inner Ring.stl or Inner Ring NO-TEXT.stl

From Markury's Naked Iris Compass design:

  • taller leaf.stl (print 14 times)
  • v3 lid inner.stl
  • lid outer.stl

From this design:

  • irisleafwithhandle.stl (print once)

Ishdo's assembly directions will get you most of the way there. When you have all the leaves installed (14 of Markury's, and one of mine), then put Markury's lid and outer ring on. It can be a bit fiddly, but since you can see where all the pegs are going, it's not too bad! :) (In the pics here, I put the v3 lid inner on upside down! Don't do that! :) It still works, but not as well.)

By the way, I used a touch of mineral oil for lubrication on mine, which makes it even easier to turn. I recommend this!
