(apologies - this sat unpublished since 2020)
This set of things is for filling holes left by removing 5.25" drives (eg: DVD drives) from computers, or replacing broken ones.
I'm providing these (for a start, I may add more in the future):
I designed these so no supports are needed when printing. Print them standing on their face. The pocket/handle version requires a printer capable of bridging (decent part cooling).
The holes are all 2.8mm so a 3mm screw (standard PC drive screw size) threads right into it.
Origin:
A friend gave me a nice computer case. It had a big drive array and an optical drive that I won't be using in it, but I didn't have the stock covers that came with it. I designed these to fill the enormous hole left by 4 empty bays (in a 9 bay case). I also needed an easy way to move it (going to be a LAN-party server for local homeschoolers, so needs to be mobile), so it needed a handle. Luck would have it that this particular case has a metal part of the frame going directly across the top of the top bay, so the plastic isn't stressed when lifting it.
Since they turned out nice, I figured I'd share them.
Note: Thingiverse is swapping around the 3D renders so the one for the model with the drive tray is coming up under the vented model. I've tried uploading them numerous times and cannot get thingiverse to keep the render of the vented model (it gets replaced when I upload the drive tray model).
